Privacy & SMS Policy

Tripsitter is a social travel app operated by Supervillainous LLC ("we", "us", "our"). This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information, including our SMS messaging practices.
Information We Collect
When you use Tripsitter, we may collect the following information:
Phone number — used for account verification via one-time SMS codes
Name and profile photo — provided during account setup
Email address — if you connect your Gmail account or sign in with Google
Travel confirmation data — parsed from emails you forward to us or that we scan from your connected Gmail (flights, hotels, reservations)
Trip and social data — trips you create, rooms you join, friends you add, posts and check-ins
Device information — device type, operating system, and push notification tokens
SMS Messaging & Consent
By entering your phone number in the Tripsitter app and tapping "Send code," you expressly consent to receive SMS messages from Tripsitter for account verification purposes.
What we send: We send one-time verification codes (OTP) via SMS to confirm your identity when you sign up or log in. These are transactional messages required for account authentication.
What we do not send: We do not send marketing messages, promotional content, or advertising via SMS. We do not sell, share, or rent your phone number to third parties for marketing purposes.
Message frequency: You will receive an SMS each time you initiate a sign-in or account verification. Typical usage is 1-3 messages per month.
Message and data rates: Standard message and data rates from your wireless carrier may apply.
Opting out: You may opt out of SMS messages at any time by discontinuing use of phone-based authentication. Since our SMS messages are limited to authentication codes, opting out means using an alternative sign-in method (such as Google). You can also contact us at david@reerah.com to request account deletion.
SMS provider: Our SMS messages are delivered through Twilio, a third-party communications platform. Twilio's privacy policy is available at twilio.com/legal/privacy.
Gmail Integration
If you choose to connect your Gmail account, Tripsitter scans your inbox for travel-related confirmation emails (flights, hotels, car rentals, activities) to automatically populate your trip itinerary. We only read emails matching travel confirmation patterns. We do not read, store, or process any other emails. You can disconnect Gmail access at any time from your profile settings.
How We Use Your Information
To verify your identity and secure your account
To create and manage your trip itineraries
To enable social features (friend connections, shared trips, group coordination)
To send push notifications about trip updates and friend activity (with your permission)
To improve and maintain the Tripsitter service
Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored on Supabase, a managed cloud database platform with row-level security, encryption at rest, and encryption in transit. We use industry-standard security practices to protect your information, including scoped database access policies that ensure users can only access their own data.
Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the following service providers, solely to operate Tripsitter:
Twilio — SMS delivery for authentication
Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage
Postmark — inbound and outbound email processing
Anthropic (Claude API) — AI-powered parsing of travel confirmation emails
Google — OAuth authentication and Gmail API access
Data Retention & Deletion
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting david@reerah.com. Upon deletion, we remove your profile, trip data, social connections, and parsed email content. Some data may persist in backups for up to 30 days.
Children's Privacy
Tripsitter is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or via the email associated with your account.
